The best part was being able to talk to everyone on Monday! I loved to hear everyone`s voices and feel your love. Thanks, everyone. I wuv you!
We also found a new investigator on Monday--a rather new sort of investigator for me. He`s a 23 year old marine who has a lot of interest in Christianity. His name is Iwakawa K*****. Apparently his name is ironic, because one of the kanji in his name relates to water or boats or something. I don`t know. I can`t read kanji. :) He set up an appointment for Saturday.
Tuesday
All day at Zone Conference in Kobe, where we learned a lot about using the Book of Mormon better in our teaching. We got back so late that were weren`t even able to teach Eikaiwa! But it was a really good conference.
Wednesday
Did some housing. Made and ate some cupcakes. Decided diets are hard and to try again next week.
Thursday
Some finding, some weekly planning. The good stuff.
Friday
Did some finding in N***** and had our first lesson with I********!
What would usually happen in a situation like this is we would bring the elders to our first meeting and pass him off to them. BUT. Y**** Choro, who last week broke his heel, ankle, and wrist, was sent home to heal up, so his companion C**** Choro, our district leader, was sent to the next area over for the rest of the transfer...which is basically the entire transfer. So, can`t do that. Luckily H******* Kaichi and H******* Shimai kindly drove out all the way to N************ (the middle section of the city) where he lives for his first lesson to doseki for us. What wonderful humans. So we taught him a little bit, and then he decided he wanted to meet the next morning as well, at the church! And he has so much interest! It`s wonderful. I think he has a lot of potential, and he`s going to come to church next week.
Saturday
That lesson with I**********, and then one with N*******. She`s 82. We`re just trying to do anything to help her progress and even want to believe in God right now. We`ll keep on trying!
Sunday
Church. Then we had a less active party after church with the branch, which lasted until 4 o`clock. Those poor little souls, working so hard to fill out the forms for each and every one of the less actives. I bet they were so hungry, but they just kept on working! So we got a form for every single less active. We will start visiting them now.... I`m proud of the branch for being such hard workers and never getting discouraged!
And that`s the story of this week.
I was reading some talks on lds.org and found this quote that I really liked.
Imagine yourself as a living house. God comes in to rebuild that house. At first, perhaps, you can understand what He is doing. He is getting the drains right and stopping the leaks in the roof and so on: you knew that those jobs needed doing and so you are not surprised. But presently He starts knocking the house about in a way that hurts abominably and does not seem to make sense. What on earth is He up to? The explanation is that He is building quite a different house from the one you thought of—throwing out a new wing here, putting on an extra floor there, running up towers, making courtyards. You thought you were going to be made into a decent little cottage: but He is building a palace.[George MacDonald, cited in C. S. Lewis, Mere Christianity
I think we`re all familiar with stuff that hurts abominably and does not seem to make sense but...it`s okay. A little bit of patience will result in greater than anything we can imagine. I so testify to that!
And that.......
The church is true.
The book is blue!
